Calling In Sick Magazine Issue 12 Mega Issue
from Calling In Sick
Calling In Sick Magazine is a new one for the shop that covers the world of "extreme alternative cycling" unlike any other periodical around. Think Dirt Rag meets SLAP Mag with a healthy does of DIY zine-style content and aesthetics. As you might imagine, it's quickly become a favorite.
Issue 12 of Calling in Sick Magazine is a special mega issue for summer. Easily the best yet, and by far the biggest at well over 100 pages. Here's an excerpt from the Editor's Note:
Making this issue was a bit of a whirlwind. I didn’t anticipate the number of responses we’d get to the call for submissions. At first I was like, dang, I gotta tell some of these people that their submission will be put on ice for a later issue. But then I wondered, heck, why not just throw them all together into one mega issue? I looked at the parameters from the printer and there was no rule capping these magazines at the typical seventy or eighty pages of prior issues. Of course not. One hundred pages is not a problem. Two hundred isn’t, either. And with that summer feeling starting to hit as the days warm up and the grass turns from green to beige, it feels appropriate to mix it up and do something special. So yeah, this is the mega summer issue. It’s got a nice mix of stuff, from the beautiful photo sets to the skate stuff to the impressive ride reports to the crash report to the silly back-of-book stuff. It’s easily the best Calling in Sick yet.
